How We Work
Every answer on HintPulse goes through an automated pipeline that collects, verifies, and publishes data for 37+ games, three times a day.
Answer Collection
An automated pipeline runs three times daily — at 00:05, 05:30, and 10:00 UTC — before most players in the Americas, Europe, and Asia start their morning puzzles. For each of the 37+ active games, the system fetches the current day's puzzle answer from publicly available sources.
Each game has a primary data source and at least one fallback. When the primary source is unavailable, the pipeline switches to the next source automatically. Source health is monitored: if a source fails repeatedly, it is reviewed by a human operator and deprioritized.
Verification
Collected answers go through format validation before publication. The system checks that the answer matches the expected format for each game type: 5-letter words for Wordle-style games, valid equations for math puzzles, country names for geography games, and so on.
When multiple sources return data for the same game, answers are cross-referenced. Mismatches are flagged and quarantined until resolved. Invalid or suspicious answers are rejected automatically.
Hint Generation
Once an answer is verified, an AI model generates three progressive hints. Each hint is tailored to the game category: word puzzles get letter-based clues, geography games get continent and capital hints, sports games get team and position clues.
Hints are validated against the answer to prevent accidental spoilers. If a hint contains the full answer text, it is rejected and regenerated. A human operator reviews the pipeline daily and investigates any flagged anomalies. The goal is to help without giving it away.
A difficulty score (1-10) is assigned based on answer complexity, word frequency, and historical patterns for similar puzzles.
Publication
Verified answers and generated hints are committed to the site's data layer. A static site rebuild is triggered automatically, and the updated pages are deployed to Cloudflare's global CDN within minutes.
Each game page is rebuilt with the new data: today's hints, the answer (hidden behind a reveal button), difficulty rating, and yesterday's analysis. Archive pages are updated with the new entry.
Yesterday's Analysis
After a puzzle's day has passed, the pipeline generates a short retrospective analysis. This covers what made the puzzle interesting, useful solving strategies, and whether the difficulty rating was accurate.
Analysis is published on each game's "Yesterday" page and serves as a learning resource for regular players.
Editorial Standards
Accuracy commitment. Every answer published on HintPulse goes through automated format validation and, where possible, multi-source cross-referencing. Corrections are rare, but when they happen, they are applied the same day.
Source ethics. Answers are collected from publicly available sources. HintPulse does not reverse-engineer paywalled content, scrape private APIs, or distribute copyrighted material.
Original content. All hint text is generated fresh for each puzzle. HintPulse does not copy hints, commentary, or analysis from other puzzle sites.
AI-Assisted Hint Generation
Hints are generated using AI language models, then validated against the verified answer to prevent accidental spoilers. The AI generates the hint text; the pipeline validates correctness.
A human operator monitors the system daily, reviews flagged anomalies, and applies corrections when needed. AI is a tool in the pipeline — not a replacement for quality control.
Corrections
No automated system is perfect. When a user reports an incorrect answer, the correction is verified and applied the same day. Critical errors — such as a wrong answer being displayed — are fixed within hours. Persistent source errors trigger a source health review.
To report an error: email hello@hintpulse.com with the game name, date, and the correct answer.
