What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by websites you visit. They remember preferences and help sites function. localStorage is a similar browser feature that stores data locally without sending it to any server.

What HintPulse Stores

HintPulse uses localStorage to remember your preferences and game progress:

  • theme — your dark/light theme preference (dark or light)
  • hintpulse-{game}-solver-YYYY-MM-DD — your progress in interactive practice boards (found words, score, placed pieces, solved groups). A new key is created daily per game you interact with.

This data stays on your device. It is never sent to any server and has no tracking purpose.

HintPulse does not set any first-party cookies.

Third-Party Cookies

When advertising is active, Google AdSense sets cookies to serve and measure ads. These cookies may track browsing activity across sites to personalize ads.

Google AdSense cookies include identifiers for ad delivery, frequency capping, and conversion tracking. See Google's cookie policy for the full list.

Cloudflare may set a __cf_bm cookie for bot protection. This cookie expires after 30 minutes and does not track personal information.

Managing Cookies

You can manage cookies and localStorage through your browser:

  • Clear theme preference — Open browser developer tools (F12), go to Application → Local Storage → hintpulse.com, and delete the theme entry.
  • Block third-party cookies — Most browsers let you block third-party cookies in Settings → Privacy. This prevents AdSense tracking cookies.
  • Opt out of personalized ads — Visit Google Ad Settings to turn off ad personalization.
